Saturday Obedience Walk

Marcus is watching Grand Prix and I am eating ice-cream and jelly while writing this post. 

We managed to find a free obedience walk for our Misia. We weren't sure if it was any good but hey it was free and we had nothing too lose and the worse case scenario would be that we would have a nice walk with Misia in the Botanic Gardens. 

The obedience walk was organize by The Art of Dog Training and you can find the link here. There were around ten dogs and I am very sorry to say that our Misia was the worst behaved. She was so excited to see all the other dogs that she didn't want to stop barking and she didn't want to walk properly on the leash. The trainer offered to help us and Misia turned mental. She didn't want to listen at all, she was fighting for more than half an hour when she finally gave up and accepted that she is not the boss here and started walking like all the other dogs. 

Our trainer said she has never seen in her career such a stubborn dog at such a young
age :(

Marcus ogląda Grand Prix a ja jem lody z galaretką i piszę mój post.

Znaleźliśmy dramową lekcję / spacer posłuszeństwa dla naszej Misi. Nie byliśmy pewni czy spacer ten będzie czymś sensownym, ale hey była to darmowa lekcja a  w najgorszym scenariuszu mielibyśmy miły spacer z Misia w Ogrodach Botanicznych.

Było tam około 10 psów i z przykrością muszę powiedzieć, że nasza Misia zachowywała się najgorzej. Była tak podekscytowana widzą inne psy, że nie mogła przestać szczekać, nie chciała też iść spokojnie na smyczy. Trenerka zaoferowała pomoc a Misia zaczęła szaleć jeszcze gorzej. Nie chciała słuchać, wyrywała się przez ponad pół godziny aż w końcu zaakceptowała fakt, że nie ona ma tutaj władzę.

Nasza trenerka powiedziała nam, że w całej swojej karierze zawodowej nie widziała tak upartego psa w tak młodym wieku :(  

Misia was exhausted both physically and mentally for the rest of the day but it was a great experience for us. We learned a lot about training Misia, like how to make her walk properly and stop barking unnecessarily. What was most important was that we learned it is ok to tell her off and punish her for bed behaviour. 

Since training walks with Misia are much more pleasant for both us and Misia. Its just the beginning of our training so good luck to us ... 

On Wednesday we are going to New Zealand for a week. We are going for Marcus's grandmother's 90th birthday and it is a bit of a family reunion. I probably won't have a chance to write a post until I will be back in Melbourne but I am sure there will be more than one post about our trip.

Misia była wyczerpana fizycznie i psychicznie do końca dnia, ale dla nas było to bardzo dobre doświadczenie. Dużo dowiedzieliśmy się o trenowaniu Misi, np jak uczyć ją chodzić grzecznie na smyczy, czy przestać szczekać niepotrzebnie. A co jest najważniejsze to uświadomiliśmy sobie, że nie ma nic złego w karaniu Misi za złe zachowanie. 

Od tego treningu spacery są o wiele przyjemniejsze zarówno dla nas jak i dla Misi. A to jest dopiero początek naszego treningu, życzcie nam powodzenia... 

W środę jedziemy na tydzień do Nowej Zelandii na Marcusa babci 90-te urodziny, cała Marcusa rodzina spotka się w ten weekend, taki większy zjazd rodzinny. Nie sądzę, żę będę miała okazję napisać kolejny post przed moim powrotem do Melbourne, ale jestem pewna, że po moim powrocie powstanie nie jeden post o naszej małej wyprawie.
